Susanne Veters Cooper helps companies maintain successful employer-employee relationships through advice and counsel and in litigation. She helps them stay up to date on workplace policies, navigate discrimination and harassment laws, employee attendance issues, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charges, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) compliance, and challenges related to retaliation, whistleblower, and wrongful discharge claims. Susanne develops practical and cost-efficient strategies for resolving disputes before they become lawsuits. She counsels employers on how to manage difficult employees and make sound risk management decisions. And when situations become contentious, Susanne draws on more than 15 years of litigation experience to defend employment claims in court, including those brought to a jury.
A former Employee Relations Consultant at a 30,000+ employee healthcare system operating throughout Louisiana, Susanne brings a hands-on, solutions-driven approach to every client engagement. She also worked as the General Counsel and Human Resources Director of a New Orleans-based restaurant. Susanne offers comprehensive advice, sensible counsel, and clear guidance on avoiding disputes in the first place, resolving them efficiently when they arise, and mounting an effective defense when matters proceed to litigation or trial. Clients know she is always ready to roll up her sleeves and dig into a problem to provide a personalized response that aligns with their strategic and financial objectives.
As Honorary Consul for the Federal Republic of Germany, Susanne collaborates closely with the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Houston and the German Embassador to the United States to foster positive German-American relationships. In this role, she hosts German delegations in New Orleans, assists German citizens living in Louisiana with passport applications naturalization applications, German pension matters and notarizing transactions.
Susanne is an active member of the German American Chamber of Commerce and assists German companies breaking into the U.S. market.
