Jean joins Gordon Arata following completion of two federal clerkships. Most recently, Jean served as a law clerk for Chief Judge John S. Hodge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Louisiana, where she analyzed intricate bankruptcy issues, prepared bench memoranda, and performed in-depth legal research to assist with the court’s rulings. She also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Jerry Edwards, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, where she handled a wide range of civil matters, drafted judicial opinions and orders, and assisted in managing the court’s docket.
Jean earned her Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration from Tulane University, where she completed dual studies at Tulane Law School and the A.B. Freeman School of Business. At Tulane, she was recognized with the Dean’s Service Award and was a dedicated volunteer for The Pro Bono Project, which provides free legal services to New Orleans residents. She served as Senior Articles Editor for the Tulane Maritime Law Journal and was active in the Graduate Business Council, ACLU “Know Your Rights” Project, and both the Tulane Women in Law and Tulane Women in Business societies. While in law school, she interned with the Honorable Nakisha Ervin-Knott of the Orleans Parish Civil District Court. Prior to completing her J.D./M.B.A., Jean received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Wake Forest University, where she minored in Italian Language and Culture and also focused on Economics.
